Limited Capacity filling up

Trauma is the big buzz-word nowadays. It affects self-regulation, social skills, executive function skills (e.g., language, memory, impulses, attention), and a sense of health and well-being. In this workshop, we are going to delve into the world of trauma.

Learning Goals:
  1. Define trauma; understand its pervasiveness and impact;
  2. Explore typical trauma responses and how they show up in our students; and
  3. Connect how relationship building is the key to supporting students who have experienced trauma.

Building on the workshop, Cracking the Code, we will explore What is trauma? What situations can give rise to trauma? Who does it impact? How does it play out in my classroom or center? What do I do about it?We will think about how it lives in our lives and the lives of those we work with. You will reflect on your own practices and set your intentions around how to be supportive and create safe spaces. You will leave the workshop feeling grounded in the importance of empathy and feeling rejuvenated as a positive person in the lives of young people.

"Take Backs"  from this Workshop:
  • Trauma-sensitive practices for your classroom environment
  • Trauma-Informed Support for children
  • Identify trauma responses in your students
