Building on the baseline training, Cultural Proficiency: A Way of Being,  in this workshop facilitated by Ekow Edzie & Susan Richards,  participants reflect on journeys in culturally-proficient, family partnering through the digital-stories of your peersYou will have the opportunity to reflect on the family engagement beliefs and practices of your peers in the OST community and to discuss practices in leveraging digital media as a professional development tool. Working in teams,  participants will conduct “deep dives,” into digital stories about our journey to build culturally-proficient, family partnering strategies in Cambridge OST.

Learning Goals:
  • Defining cultural proficiency and understanding the value of stories
  • Understanding the value of sharing stories of practice to deepen our own
  • Reflecting on your beliefs and practices working with families
  • Exploring the use of digital media as part of your practitioner tool kit

"Takebacks" from this Workshop:
  • Practices that reduce bias and promote understanding
  • Practices that support learning through peer story telling
  • Gleaning essential messages in a story and applying learning to our own practice 
  • Practices that will deepen your partnership with your students’ families   

A continental breakfast will be provided.
